The engine in your vehicle is made up of many various moving parts that require appropriate lubrication to avoid causing damage. Every vehicle is different, not just by make & model but also by age, condition and use; that is why we do not offer a ‘one service fits all’ capped price. Just like you are different to your neighbour across the street, your car probably is too!

Logbook Service
Simply, a Logbook Service is when vehicle maintenance is carried out to meets manufacturer requirements, with manufacturer quality parts, by a specified vehicle age or kilometer reading. Often a logbook service makes sure you are servicing and maintaining more then just the engine in your vehicle as it considers your brake fluid, ignition, filtration, drive, and gearbox components - just to name a few.
Every vehicle comes with a logbook that dictates what these requirements may be and what exact procedures a technician is required to follow regarding your vehicle. Our service advisors are here to assist you in determining what your vehicle requires.
Essential Service
At ANS Mechanic Services our services start with a 2WD/FWD or 4WD/AWD/RWD base labour charge. This charge covers the technicians labour for the service, your full safety inspection and report, tyre inflation, handbrake adjustment (if required), battery test and terminal protectant (if required), brake fluid test, fluid check, filter check, grease universal joints, and lubrication of hinges and check straps.
Then with knowing the specifics of your vehicle our qualified technicians will change your oil filter and replenish your vehicle’s engine oil to keep your engine working at its best.
A Logbook Service follows a servicing schedule to improve your cars reliability by maintaining a proactive all-round approach to vehicle maintenance. A Logbook Service considers your vehicle and its components as a whole meaning you are less likely to run into maintenance issues.
An Essential Service focuses on the maintenance of your engine oil and oil filter, and includes a series of checks that inspect safety components and functional components of your vehicle. What an Essential Service lacks is servicing and maintaining other fluids or internal filters, i.e. your gearbox oil or your in-tank fuel filter.

Common Questions
-
Most individuals understand regular vehicle servicing and maintenance is important for keeping you and your vehicle moving safely - but how often is ‘regular’ and why does it seem everyone says something different?
With every vehicle, the manufacturer recommends different intervals of maintenance and servicing; this is usually on your onboard system or within your logbook. Different manufactures recommend different intervals and this is where information can get confusing. Adding an extra layer to the confusion, is if you use your vehicle for anything outside of standard use, e.g. off-road use or towing.
A general rule of thumb, and one we believe to be the most cost-effective service schedule, is a vehicle service every 10,000 km or every 6 months, whichever occurs first.
In our experience, vehicles that adhere to this servicing schedule have allowed customers to ensure the condition of their motor vehicle and take a proactive approach to minimising the requirement of unforseen additional repairs and any excessive costs.
-
If your car has maintained regular servicing to ensure it is running in optimal condition, an Essential Service will usually take as little as 90minutes and a typical Logbook Service may take between 1.5 and 5 hours dependent on the requirements.
-
When considering engine oil, there are three main categories of oil: mineral, synthetic, and semi-synthetic. Our qualified technicians research your vehicle's oil grade specifications and viscosity requirements, and take into consideration how and where you use your vehicle when selecting the most appropriate oil for the application.
At ANS Mechanic Services we are proud users of Gulf Western, Penrite, and Castrol for our oils and lubricants.
-
Unfortunately not. At ANS Mechanic Services we have a strict policy of no customer supplied service or repair parts. Why is this? Because a part we have not sourced from our reputable suppliers or chosen product brands is one that we are unable to depend on for quality, safety, and reliability. This is because we do not know the history of the part, be it old, new, reconditioned or tampered with, or be able to gaurentee it has passed Australian Design Rule Standards or adheres to Vehicle Design requirements.
However, we understand that you may have a preferred brand when it comes to vehicle parts or products, so please let us know prior to your booking so we can organsie to have your prefered parts or products in stock.
